Toma sat cross-legged on his bed, looking through all the pictures he took so far on this trip. 
it's only been two days, but they already got to go to a luau, do some whale watching, and spent a whole day on a bus tour of the beautiful Road to Hana. The scenic tropical rainforest and waterfalls were amazing!

toma picked one pretty picture of a waterfall to use as his cellphone wallpaper and then went to the bathroom to put some lotion on. that's weird, he thought. it's not on the sink. he thought he left it there last night. he wandered around his room, looking for it. it had disappeared! it had a really nice scent and yamashita had given it to him before he left. and now it was gone. where could it be? 

toma sighed and thought he'll look for it later. he went to the closet to get his clothes and go change. wait, where's my t-shirt? he thought. what's going on, why are my things disappearing? suddenly he had goosebumps and wondered if the ghost took it... he quickly changed and went over to gakki's room.

gakki and mari were eating breakfast on the balcony, looking at the sea below. toma walked over to them. 

"oh, good morning, toma!" gakki cheerfully said.

mari nodded and half-smiled at toma.

"morning." toma smiled at them. "umm...this is weird, but i just discovered that one of my t-shirts and a small bottle of lotion is missing from my room. did any of you borrow my lotion or t-shirt, for some reason and forgot to ask me?"

"no..." both of them replied, looking puzzled.

"are you sure you didn't misplace it, did you look carefully?" gakki asked.

"yes!" toma answered.

"did the cleaning lady take it?" mari wondered.

"no, i didn't leave the sign hanging on the door that said they could come in and clean my room." toma said.

"hmm...that is strange." gakki said.

"did you hear anyone go in my room last night, maybe?" toma asked gakki.

"no...me and mari watched a movie and then talked until really late at night. then mari slept with me." gakki said. "i don't remember hearing anything weird."

"me neither." mari said.

"do you think it could be...the...you know..." toma looked around nervously and mumbled.

"the ghost! she took your stuff!" mari exclaimed.

"no way..." toma said, crossing his arms. "i don't believe in ghosts. well...not really..."

"no, it can't be. don't worry, toma, maybe the things you lost will show up later if you look again." gakki said. she turned to mari. "don't scare him, mari!"

mari just shrugged and continued eating. she has been pretty sarcastic and sometimes mean to toma the whole trip, actually. she is still mad at him for breaking up with gakki and making her so sad a few months ago. she is gakki's best friend and knew how hard it was for gakki to recover from the heartbreak. but toma tries to get along with her because she is gakki's friend, and they have to spend so much time together during their time here. he tries his best to not get into arguments with her and not make things awkward for all of them. 

actually, toma wondered if she took his lotion and t-shirt to scare him. but she was sleeping next to gakki last night. wouldn't gakki know if she got out of bed? 

"ohhh...remember how the bellboy said that mika's (the ghost) boyfriend cheated on her? maybe she hates you because you're cheating on your boyfriend!"

"no, i'm not!" toma protested, glancing at gakki nervously. oh my god, the sex dreams about gakki that i've been having! toma thought. does the ghost know?

"everyone has their own definition of cheating," mari calmly explained. "to some people, secretly going on a trip with your ex is already cheating. even if you don't have sex with your ex..." 

"mari, stop it." gakki quietly said, frowning. "toma and i are just friends now. there's nothing wrong with going on a trip with your friend..." 

"yeah!" toma said, nodding his head. but he couldn't help feeling guilty about the erotic dreams he's been having about gakki. 

"i was just kidding." mari replied, smiling at gakki. but then she gave toma an icy glare while gakki was looking down. she squinted her eyes in a threatening way, as if to say "don't even think about doing anything inappropriate with gakky while i'm here!"

what the hell, can she read my mind or something? toma thought, as he quickly looked away from her. 

"toma, pull that chair over and have breakfast with us." gakki cheerfully said. "and then we can all go do some shopping together." 

"umm...you know what, i don't feel very well, i didn't get much sleep last night." toma said, scratching his head. "why don't you go ahead. i'll stay here. maybe we can eat dinner together, though." 

"oh, okay..." gakki replied, looking a little sad.

toma ate breakfast at the hotel's beachside restaurant and then wandered around the hotel by himself. 

he walked back and forth in the promenade hallway...sat beside the pool...took some pictures in the garden and the other pretty locations at the hotel. this place is so beautiful, but it still couldn't cheer toma up. he plopped down on a comfortable couch in the empty lanai and stared into space. he kept wondering if going on this trip was a mistake. he felt so guilty about lying to yamashita and having dreams about gakki. should he just leave early and tell yamashita the truth? but tomorrow is already the last day, anyway...

just then, his phone chimed. it was a text from gakky, asking if he was ok and reminding him to meet them for dinner later. toma looked at his watch. it was already 5pm! he had been wandering around for half a day and didn't even realize it! he sighed and texted her back, saying he has a headache and they should eat dinner without him. he stretched his arms and sighed again, leaning back on the couch. finally, he stood up and decided to go back to his room to take a bath.

toma leaned against the rolled up towel on the side of the bathtub and closed his eyes, trying to relax in the warm water. he was humming a song to distract himself from worrying, when someone knocked on his door. 

"toma, it's gakki. are you ok?" she said.

"uh...i'm ok. i'm just taking a bath." toma replied. luckily he remembered to lock the door.

"are you avoiding me...what's wrong? are you mad at me or something?" she asked.

"no...nothing's wrong. i just wanted to be alone for a while..." toma mumbled.

"toma, cover yourself up, i'm coming in." she calmly said.

"what?!" toma grabbed the rolled up towel and covered the lower half of his body as gakki pushed her room key card in between the door and wall to disable the lock. 

"i'm sorry, but i'm really worried about you. please tell me what's wrong, toma!" she said, as she sat down on the side of the bathtub. "i won't leave until you tell me what's going on. did something happen with yamashita?"

toma sighed and shook his head. "no, but i've been feeling really guilty about keeping this trip a secret from him. i guess it's just been building up...so today i wanted to be by myself to think about whether i should tell him the truth or not. i think i really should..."

gakky pursed her lips and nodded. "that's what i thought might be bothering you...but we're friends. you should always talk to me if something is bothering you. well...if you feel so bad about it, i guess you should tell him. i'm sorry i've caused all this trouble for you. it's because of me that we went on this trip."

toma looked at her and smiled. "don't feel bad, i've had a lot of fun on this trip with you. but there's something i have to confess to you...please don't be mad..."

"huh?" gakky tilted her head to one side.

toma shut his eyes tight and blurted out "i've been having sexy dreams about you!" 

"what...?" she looked surprised.

"i don't know why i keep having these dreams about you and i doing...stuff in bed. it only started during this trip, i didn't have them before!" toma explained, staring down at the water, afraid to look at gakki.

"toma, don't feel bad. that's perfectly normal." gakki casually said, patting him on the shoulder.

"huh?" toma gave her a puzzled look.

gakki smiled and explained "i've read a book about dream interpretation, and they say that sometimes in your dreams, your ex-girlfriend or boyfriend represent your current girlfriend or boyfriend. it's like your mind forgot to update the information. so maybe you just miss yamashita so much and think about him a lot, so you are having erotic dreams to satisfy your need for him. but you've been seeing me everyday and before, we dated for a whole year. and you have dated him for a only a few months so...things got mixed up in your mind. that's normal."

"ohhhh...." toma nodded, feeling relieved. "i guess you're right, but i can't help feeling a little awkward sometimes, when i suddenly remember a sexy dream, while i'm with you...i wish there was a way to stop having these dreams about you." 

"hmm..." gakky pouted and thought for a moment. "in that book, they said that if you want to stop having a recurring dream, you need to resolve the problem that the dream represents. if that dream represents that you miss yamashita, then i guess you might continue to have it until you two are together again..."

"oh...i guess so." toma frowned and crossed his arms. 

"but let's try something and see if it works tonight...close your eyes, toma." gakki calmly said. 

toma closed his eyes. it sounded like gakki was taking her clothes off? "what are you doing?! don't take your clothes off!" toma yelled.

"shhh...calm down. i'm doing this to help you!" gakky said. he heard her get in the bathtub next to him. 

"ok, you can open your eyes now." she quietly said.

he opened his eyes. gakki had a towel wrapped around her body and was blushing a little. 

toma's face turned red too. "why did you get in the bathtub with me? now we're both..."

"naked. i know." gakky nodded. "maybe if we're already naked together during the day, then at night you won't dream about us being naked together anymore!" she cheerfully said.

"you really think so?" toma said, clutching his towel tightly under the water. 

"it's worth a try." gakky shrugged.

"ok then..." toma mumbled and quickly looked away from her. he tried not to think about the sexy dream he had about them doing stuff in this bathtub!

out of the corner of his eye, he could see gakki looking at his chest, and he turned to look at her. 

"what is it?" he mumbled, covering it up with his hands. 

"oh, nothing..." she turned away, embarrassed. "it's just that i haven't seen you shirtless in a long time. you're still so fit..." 

"oh...thank you." toma nervously scratched his head. "you can see me shirtless again tomorrow when we go to the beach together, i guess. i want to do some swimming." 

"oh..." gakki nodded awkwardly. "too bad i don't know how, or else we could swim together."

"yeah...maybe some other time we'll get the chance to..." toma fidgeted with his towel in the water. "umm...did you have fun shopping with mari today?" 

"yes, but everything is so expensive, so we mostly just looked around and took pictures together" gakky replied.

"i see...i walked around the hotel and took a lot of pictures too. you want to see?" he reached over to the sink to pick up his phone.

"sure." gakki nodded.

they both scooted over to each other at the same time, so that they could both look at the phone. they bumped into each other and toma quickly moved away from her.

"i'm sorry!" they both blurted out. 

"this is a bad idea." toma frowned and quickly put his phone back on the sink. "i can't talk to you like usual when we've got no clothes on!" 

"i know this is weird, but didn't you sometimes take baths with your brother when you were little? just pretend i'm your brother." gakki said, trying to smile and stay calm. the truth is, she is using this as an excuse to be close to toma. even though they have broken up, but she still has lingering feelings for him. she knows toma only loves yamashita now, but at least they can still be friends. as long as toma doesn't realize how she really feels about him...as long as she keeps trying to see him as just a friend, everything should be alright. 

"but you're a lot prettier than my brother..." toma said, smiling at gakki.

"toma...i knew you would say that." gakki was afraid to look at his cute smile for too long. she looked down at the water, embarrassed.

"and your skin is so soft..." toma softly said, gently touching her arm.

gakki couldn't hold back anymore. she suddenly hugged toma tightly.

"gakki? what are you doing?" he panicked and tried to push her away.

"this is a test." she quietly said, holding on to him tightly. "if you can hug me and not want kiss me or touch me more, that proves that your sexy dreams really don't mean anything. it means you don't have anything to worry about..."

"no...this is too risky!" toma said, shaking his head.

"does that mean you still want to be with me, toma?" gakki gently asked, stroking his back.

"gakki, you know yamashita is the only one for me..." toma quietly said. 

"then you should be fine." she smiled to herself and ran her fingers through his soft hair. 

"umm...alright...just for a little while." toma slowly put his arms around her. 

"how does it feel?" gakki asked him after a few minutes. 

"it feels nice...not in a sexy way, just nice and warm." toma cheerfully said.

"i think so too." she happily replied and let him go.

toma leaned back against the tub and looked at her. "thanks gakki. i feel much better now."

"i'm glad i could help." she cheerfully said, smiling at him.

toma smiled back at her and leaned over to kiss her on the cheek. "you're a great friend." 

gakky touched his face gently "and you're a good boyfriend. i'm sure yamashita won't be too mad at you if you confess to him about this trip." 

toma nodded and smiled. gakky smiled back at him and then covered her mouth as she yawned. "well, i guess that's enough..." suddenly her towel knot came undone and toma quickly grabbed the towel to keep it from slipping down, accidentally touching one of her breasts over the towel. 

"oh my god, i'm sorry!" toma quickly let go after gakki grabbed the towel and retied the knot. 

"it's ok, you didn't mean to." gakki mumbled. "i...i guess we should..." 

"get out of here, yeah!" toma said, as he carefully wrapped his towel around him body and stepped out of the bathtub. he went out to get a bathrobe for gakki from his closet and quickly came back. 

"thanks, i'll give this back to you later." gakki said, putting it on. she picked up her clothes and went back in her room. 

toma locked the door and took off the wet towel. he got a new towel to wrap around himself and another one to wipe himself dry. "that was too close!" he said to himself and pouted, as he looked in the mirror and started drying himself off.

some notes:

-ok, so this was just an excuse to get them in a bathtub together, but i think it was a cute + sexy. xD

-actually, sexual dreams can mean a lot of different things. it's not just love-related. the person you're dreaming about could represent something that you want in life, or some problem you're having. it's pretty interesting, look it up

-toma and mao only worked together for some scenes in HYD2, but i think it would be nice to see them in the same drama/movie again sometime. so i decided mao should be mari in this fic. hehe.
