(i was really disappointed with this movie, but at least there were a lot of gorgeous toma moments. xD)

(i like the scenes with higa, actually. she's pretty (definitely prettier than yuriko!) and i liked her character in the manga. in the movie, she doesn't have much of a personality, but in the manga, she's smarter, more straightforward, and sensible. she's a pretty tough and stubborn girl.)
i really didn't like this movie. it seems like most people loved this movie, and i tried to like it, but i honestly hated it. i feel kind of bad about my comments below, but it was really disappointing to me. and i think there must be other fans out there that feel the same way as i do? maybe some of you might think i'm being too harsh... it might be because i'm especially critical when it comes to toma's movies/dramas because i have higher expectations for them.
it was too sad and depressing! there was so much tension and silence for most of the movie, to the point that it was suffocating. it made me very uncomfortable and left me with a heavy, gloomy feeling afterwards. and it felt like the story dragged on for too long. i kept checking to see how much longer till the end! it felt like it took FOREVER to watch. (i guess it was partly because it took me twice as long to watch it because i was getting screencaps while i was watching, but still...!)
and the trailer is SO MISLEADING. they make it seem like yano and nanami will be together for most of the movie, but toma and yuriko actually had very few scenes together. to me, this movie is more about yano and yuri dealing with their family problems. yano and nanami's love story is more like a side story. -__-
and just like the first movie, the plot is very predictable and it's full of clichés . well, this is not really their fault because they had to follow the manga's storyline. but i was hoping the ending to such a popular and long-running manga would be better than this.
overall, i give this movie a "D" grade. -__-
the story: D
the characters: C
the acting: B
the art direction: C
the music: D
--------------------- some more comments:
-my favorite scene: (in spoiler section below)
-i've seen so many pics of them in the green field and i kept waiting for that scene. turns out, there are only 2 short moments of them in the field. sighhh... oh well. both were pretty nice. ^_^ (it would be so much nicer if we could see the vast green field as it was in real life, and not the yellow-toned version!! -_-)
-i like yano's high school uniform in this movie more. i love seeing toma wear a tie! xD he also looks cute with the waiter apron and the vest at the karaoke place.
-both of their kisses were awkward... =/
-Yuri Yamamoto, the creepy younger sister of nana, looks much prettier in this movie! prettier than nana, actually. and she really looks like the actress that was the "witch" in Majo Saiban!!
--------- comments with SPOILERS
-i loved the part where Take was saying he wants to check on how he's doing, then he'll beat the hell out of him. xD also the part he punched yano!! i mean, i think a lot of us want to hit yano at that point, right? hahaha.
-i liked what yano said to yuri's mom. it sums up his relationship with his mom and i really felt sorry for him, seeing him so emotional after he said it.
-i didn't expect yano to be suicidal after his mom died and because of his panic anxiety! ironically, it was yuri wanting to commit suicide that prevented yano from killing himself and saving her. i'm still not sure if they were actually dating during that time or did she just live with him? at least she told him the truth about her sister wanting to breakup with her ex for good to be with yano.
-my favorite scene: i liked how they had the "past" yano searching for nanami, and her seeing him as the same yano from their high school days, when he found her. ~_~ so it's like they can start over from where they left off, i guess? AFTER 10 FREAKING YEARS. GEEZ..... o__o
i don't understand what the author of this manga was thinking...have them get together, then split them up for a long time and give yano a girl friend (higa's character) and have him stay with yuri and have nanami date Take. then after 5 years, let them meet, and then after 10 YEARS, let them finally be together.
that just makes no sense to me, to split up the main characters for so long! despite this, the manga is so popular and these movies were too. i just don't get it though.
at least it stayed true to the manga

Well just saying that the manga fans won't dissapointed to watch this movie.
